In the whole Scripture music plays a very important role in the spiritual life of the God’s people. From the triumfant hymn sang at the Red Sea to the triumfant hymn of the Crystal Sea, music represents a vital part of worship.

…as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, “For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever!”… (2 Chronicles 5:13)

This year we kindly invite you once again to join us for a week for The Third Edition of the International Music Summer Camp ”Echoes from Paradise”, that will take place at our Porumbacu campus between the 29th of July and the 4th of August 2019.

The Music Department of SDARM-Romania and the Romanian Union of the SDARM, kindly invite all those who play an instrument or who like to sing in the choir,  to learn some new songs. We started a repertoire 3 years ago in Romania (“Echoes from Paradise”, August  2016), Hungary (July  2017) and once again Romania (“Echoes from paradise  2nd Edition”, August  2018). The rehersals will take place at the SDARM Campus in Porumbacu de Sus for 7 days. On Saturday we will have a special program for the local members and visitors.

We would like to use Sunday (the 4th of August 2019) as a missionary outreach opportunity and we will be performing our songs united in a nicely put together public concert that will take place in Sibiu, at the Calvin Reformed Church.

For all of you who want to participate, we kindly ask you to follow the upcoming details that will be posted on this webpage, and to fill out the registration forms on this website as soon as possible. The registration deadline is the 21st of July 2019

As far as the financial part is concerned, the cost for accomodation and food is as follows:

***Children under the age of 7 years old will not pay anything provided that they will not use a bed (they will need to sleep in the same bed with one of their parents). If not, they will have to pay the price shown for the 7 to 14 years old category.

In order to streamline the organizational process, we recommend you to pay for your accomodation as follows:

As we all already know, on Sunday, the 4th of August 2019, will take place The Vocal-Simfonic Concert “Echoes from Paradise – 3rd Edition“.

We know that this type of event can be confusing for some, but we are glad that you can attend and we are happy to know that you are pat of the auditorium. For a good development of the event, we provide the following guidelines such as the atmosphere to be pleasant for everyone:

  • Dress appropriately for the event. The church type of clothing (in accordance with our faith principles) are good referance standards for the concerts organized by the church as well.
  • Mind your time. Make sure that you arrive before the concert starts (the schedule provided by us suggests that everyone should be at the concert location by 4:30 pm, the concert beginning at 5:00 pm). Also, stay in your seat until the end of the performance. Standing up, wandering about or leaving the concert hall before the end of a performance is disrespectful.
  • Stay quiet. This is the most important rule in concert etiquette. As best you can, avoid talking, whispering, whistling, singing along or humming to the music while the concert is ongoing so as not to distract other people. Listening attentively to the music and paying attention to the performers on stage will help you appreciate the concert more.
  • Stai still. Of course nobody expects you to sit perfectly still; however, stretching while you’re seated, tapping your feet, cracking your knuckles or chewing gum are inappropriate. These actions also distract other viewers and the musicians themselves. Try your best to stay put while the concert is ongoing.
  • Alarm off. If possible, leave items like cell phones and wristwatches with alarms in your car. If you really need to bring these things with you, make sure to turn it off or set it to vibrate/silent mode/airplane mode before the concert starts.
  • Do not record. Try to enjoy the concert without video recording nor photographing. It is self explanatory that video taping/photographing (especially with the flash on) will disrupt the atmosphere not only by distracting the other people that listen, but also the musicians; all of these negative effects amplify in the rush for “better” framing. Try to relax because there are already people in charge of recording the event. You can ask them how you can obtain the recordings, after the concert.
  • Be an example. If you have the opportunity, spread this information such that the atmosphere to be as pleasant as possible. If you see someone that disregards these concert etiquette guidelines, try to be a positive example for that person.

On the 4th of August, at 5:00 pm, will take place the Vocal-Symphonic Concert “Echoes from Paradise – 3rd Edition”, at the Calvin Reformed Church, on Mitropoliei street, number 9, Sibiu.

This public musical event will take place as a result of the closing of The International Music Summer School that wears the same name. Thus, we invite you to foretaste heaven through the music of the camp’s Choir and Orchestra.

The entry will be free of charge.

Most frequently asked questions and answers

For CHOIR and ORCHESTRA

You will have to fill in individual forms for each person that you want to register for this two categories. In order for you to be in the same room (4 people), in the last section of the forms (“Other mentions”), you will have to write the Surname and Name of each individual (in all the filled out forms, in the same order). We will try to do our best and fulfill your desire.

For Guest

The GUEST form gives the possibility to register in the same room up to 4 people, if all of them are guests.

For guest and musician in the same room

If musicians and guests want to be in the same room, the guests will fill out the GUEST form, and the musicians will fill out the CHOIR form or the ORCHESTRA form, respectively. In the filed “Other mentions” will be written the names of the people that you want to stay with, and we will try to fulfill your preferences.

The registrations that will not fill a room with 4 people will be joined by the organizers such as the campus to reach full booking capacity.

In the registration form there is a special section for signing up special items for the whole week (including Sabbath). When you fill out a form as a musician or as a guest, you have the same opportunity to inform us about your special item. The sooner you will register the special item, the bigger the chance some free space in the schedule will have remained for you.

How do I sign up with a special item if i have already sent the registration form ?

Please check your email Inbox (check Spam as well if needed). There should be the confirmation of your registration, together with a link that gives the possibility to correct any potential error and also gives you the chance to fill out the section about signing up special items. However, the priority would be chronological. It is better to sign up as soon as possible. If you announce us when you arrive at the campus, we cannot guarantee that there will be any free space left in the schedule.

Can I sign up with more than just one special item ?

Unfortunately the limit is one special item per person/group/choir etc. because a lot of people want to take part in the programme. However, you can dill in additional items in the last section of the form, called “Other mentions”. Is is very important to write there the name that we will be announcing, together with the title of the item (the title of the song/poem/experience etc.), and to attach the link to the backing music in case you will have one. Please briefly describe your moment. Because we cannot guarantee that we will have the time to present the items from “Other mentions”, even though we will try to, please choose the most representative item for you as your primary registration.

There is no problem. Please check your email Inbox (check Spam as well if needed). There should be the confirmation of your registration, together with a link that gives the possibility to correct any potential error.

You can make a new reservation with a valid email address. In order for us to invalidate the previous registration, please write your Surname, Name, date and hour (just approximate), and the fact that we need to invalidate that entry, in the “Other mentions” section when you fill in the new form.

The prepaiment is a must because there are costs that need to be covered before the camp will even start. By paying up front a part of the total sum, the person that registers shows that the booking and therfore the attendance will be treated seriously. Seriousness is needed since the registration because many people want to participate, and the capacity is limitted. The prepaiment is a “guarantee” that the one that registered will occupy the spot on the period written in the form. Thus, the organizers have a good evidence of the capacity that will be filled.

The booking will be cancelled if the prepaiment is not made by the 19th of July 2019. This means that after the aformentioned date, the people that are on the waiting list will be informed that some spots have feen freed.

If you want to cancel your reservation, from the confirmation email (sent to the first email address filled out in the form) you can edit the filled out information. In the last field (titled “Other mentions”), write with kaps-lock: “Cancelled”. If you registered more people (option available only for GUEST category) and you do not want to cancel the reservations of all the people registered on the form, you can mention as clearly as possible who is not coming anymore (in the same field titled “Other mentions”). It is very important for us to know as soon as possible if someone will not come. 

You are invited to fill in a form, and we will try to find a solution. Do not forget to mention your situation in the “Other mentions” section at the end of the form.
